Microneedling Treatment
Automated Micro-Needling is an innovation in aesthetic medicine for the treatment of the appearance of fine lines, skin texture and tone and acne scarring. We use the Health Canada approved Eclipse MicroPen Elite to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to aid in the production of collagen and elastin. The skin’s re-repair process results in a thicker dermis and a brighter, more even skin surface. Eclipse MicroPen also creates micro-channels which allow topical serums to be absorbed more effectively, enhancing the effects in deeper layers of the skin. The result is a reduction in the appearance of fine lines, texture and tone for softer, younger looking skin.
For most patients, we recommend a series of 3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. For patients with more significant skin care concerns such as acne scars, is it recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 6 week intervals.

- Please remove all makeup prior to the micro-needling procedure.
- In the 48 hours prior to the procedure please avoid self tanners, sun exposure and products containing Vitamin A, Retinol, Hydroquinone, exfoliating acids or Benzyl Peroxide.
- Please wait 2 weeks after laser treatments, Botox or Dermal Filler treatments to have micro-needling.
- If you have active breakouts, open lesions, skin infections, rosacea or eczema in the area being treated we will not be able to perform the procedure.
- Please wait 6 months after discontinuing Accutane to have a micro-needling procedure.
- Micro-needling is not recommended for women who are pregnant or nursing.
- Immediately after the treatment, you will notice a bright redness to the skin. While healing time varies by patient, most patients can expect 2-4 days of redness.
- Do not touch your face for a minimum of 4 hours.
- You may experience swelling, inflammation, itching, burning and possible breakouts.
- You may have some dryness and flaking due to an increased turnover of skin cells. Allow old skin to flake off naturally and keep the skin moisturized.
- You may wash your face gently at bed time the day of your procedure.
- Avoid make-up for 48 hours post procedure.
- Avoid direct sun exposure for 3 days post procedure. For the 2 weeks post procedure, if in direct sunlight wear a min of SPF 30 and re-apply every 2 hours.
- Avoid sweaty exercise, hot-tubs or saunas for 3 days post procedure.
- Please wait 2 weeks to have laser treatment, Botox or Dermal Filler treatment.
- You may rebook for your next treatment in 4 weeks.
- You will notice an immediate glow to the skin and visible changes develop over the course of several weeks. Results can continue to improve for up to 6 months post treatment.

What is automated Micro-Needling?

Eclipse MicroPen can be used on all parts of the body: face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.
How is the procedure done?
A sterile cartridge containing 12 tiny micro-points is attached to the Eclipse MicroPen. We will apply a serum to your skin and select the appropriate pen position based on your unique needs. Next, in a single motion, the pen will be gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered.
What does it feel like?
The feeling associated with the Eclipse MicroPen is similar to sandpaper being moved across the skin. While some areas are more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating tip makes the treatment more comfortable. A topical numbing cream will be used to make the treatment more comfortable.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure takes approximately 15 – 30 minutes depending on the area being treated. Your total appointment time will be one hour in order to apply numbing cream prior to treatment.
What is the downtime?
Immediately after the treatment, you will notice a bright redness to the skin. The total healing time depends on the pen position used and the number of overlapping passes performed. Each patient heals differently. On average, patients experience redness for 2-4 days.
When will I see the results?
Patients notice an immediate glow to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several weeks. Results can continue to improve up to 6 months after the treatment.
