Juvéderm® Dermal Filler
Juvdérm® is a smooth, replenishing, injectable gel used to refresh your appearance by smoothing away unwanted lines and bringing back the natural contours of the face. Juvéderm® is the leading facial filler in Canada and the US and is made of hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring sugar found in the body. When injected, Juvéderm® combines with the water in your skin to instantly smooth lines and wrinkles, enhance lips and restore lost volume to the cheeks and jawline. As an added benefit, hyaluronic acid injected in the skin can even naturally stimulate collagen production and maintain skin hydration. We use only Juvdérm®XC (Extra Comfort) products which contain lidocaine to make your treatments even more comfortable.
Juvéderm results are instantaneous, look very natural and may last up to a year with virtually no downtime.

To decrease the chance of bruising at the injection site, please avoid all NON-PRESCRIPTION blood thinning medications and supplements for 1 week prior to your Juvéderm® appointment. Avoid taking Aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDS) such as such as Ibuprofen, Motrin and Aleve. In addition, very high doses of some Vitamins and supplements can thin your blood and increase the chance of bruising. Please notify Dr. Bowdridge if you are taking Warfarin, Coumadin, Plavix, or any other blood thinners for a medical condition.
- For the first 24 hours following your treatment, you should avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sun or heat exposure, alcoholic beverages and Ibuprofen as these may increase the risk of bruising.
- Be gentle with the area for the first few days following your treatment . You may wash your face and apply make-up as usual but try not to manipulate or rub the area excessively.
- It is recommended that you sleep on your back for the first few days following your treatment. We recommend using the enVy – Anti-aging and Wellness Pillow to get the most out of your facial filler treatments.
- Facials and facial laser treatments are not recommended for two weeks following Juvéderm® treatments.
- Note that any bumps or marks from the needles will resolve themselves within a few hours.
- If you do develop a bruise, it will resolve itself like any other bruise.
- Juvéderm®results may last up to a year at which time re-treatment is recommended.

JUVÉDERM® is injected directly into the skin using a fine needle to reduce injection discomfort. Because JUVÉDERM® is also available with pain-reducing lidocaine, the whole injection process is a more comfortable experience.

The unique formulation of JUVÉDERM® is clinically proven to last up to one year with one treatment.
What are the side effects?
